When we talk about biking, it’s usually to trumpet its environmental and health benefits. In our pursuit of data and science, we often overlook one of biking’s most enjoyable, but least measurable, rewards: freedom.

When you hop on a bike instead of in a car, you leave yourself open to the world. You’re free to hear the birds and insects chirping around you. Free to notice the leaves on the trees and ebb of the breeze. Free to soak in the sunlight and say hello to passersby.

Biking lets us see more of the world under our wheels, including more of the place you call home. We gain a more detailed, intimate view of our city when we experience it in the saddle of a bike rather than behind the wheel of a car.

We invite you to get out and explore your city. This Saturday, June 18, join Big Car Collaborative, and Reconnecting to Our Waterways for BIKE FEST - an art and nature bike crawl across Indy via some of our city’s finest bicycle greenways. The event is free and open to the public, but make sure you register on IndyCog ahead of time.
